The Regional District is contacted on a daily
basis by residents, businesses and tourists asking a variety
of questions. This page is dedicated to those questions
that are asked on a frequent basis:
When is my garbage and/or recycling
going to be picked up?
Residents of Vernon, Armstrong, Enderby and Lumby, please
contact your Municipal
Office for scheduling information, or look in your
telephone directory under "Garbage Collectors"
for contact information.
Do I need a burning permit?
Every jurisdiction has a Burning Bylaw Restricting when
and where outside burning is permitted. Contact your Municipal
Office to get the specific information for your community.
Who do I contact about a dog complaint?
The Regional District has contracted K-9 Control Services
to provide assistance to residents with complaints about
dogs. They can be reached at (250) 545-8070.
Do I need a Building Permit?
The Regional District uses the British Columbia Building
Code to regulate the construction, addition, renovation
and demolition of all residential, commercial, industrial
and agricultural buildings. Permits are also required
for the construction of all signs and the moving of buildings.

North Okanagan visit Building
Inspection.
Where do I pay my taxes?
If you live in an Incorporated Jurisdiction such as Enderby,
Armstrong, Spallumcheen, Vernon, Coldstream or Lumby you
pay your taxes at your local Municipal
Office.
If you live in an Unincorporated Electoral Area, which
in the North Okanagan is everywhere with the exception
of the above noted communities, you pay your rural property taxes in person at Service BC (the BC Access Centre), 3201 30th Street in Vernon or at your financial institution. Click Here for More Payment Methods.
What are the Watering Restrictions?
During the summer months watering restrictions are placed
on North Okanagan homeowners in an effort to conserve
this precious resource. The Regional District through
Greater
Vernon Services - Water sets the watering restrictions on an
annual basis. These restrictions are published on the
website, and in local news papers and pamphlets that are
distributed with your water bill.
As a general rule, odd numbered houses water on odd numbered
days of the week and even numbered houses water on even
numbered days of the week.
