Open Burning Still Banned in Electoral Areas B and C

NORTH OKANAGAN – The Regional District of North Okanagan would like to remind all residents that Class A and Class B open burning in Electoral Areas B and C are not permitted until October 31, 2018.

Campfire Ban Lifted in Regional District of North Okanagan

NORTH OKANAGAN – The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) has lifted the campfire ban within the region as of Monday, September 10, 2018.

Regional District of North Okanagan Campfire Ban Still in Effect
Friday, September 7, 2018 -

With nearby Fire Centres lifting campfire bans, the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) would like to clarify that the campfire ban within the RDNO Electoral Areas is still in effect. 

Precipitation is expected this weekend, however, the current conditions and fuels are still vulnerable to wildfire. Because of the risk, the RDNO Electoral Areas will not be rescinding the campfire ban until a further review is undertaken on Monday, September 10, 2018.

This notice only refers to the RDNO Electoral Areas.

Please refer to your local municipal office for the local ruling on the rescind notice.

About the Rescinding of the Campfire Ban by the Kamloops Fire Centre

The Kamloops Fire centre has given notice to rescind the campfire ban in areas of the Central Zone as of 12 noon (PDT) September 7, 2018.

The rescind notice only relates to the previously prohibited; campfires, chimineas, outdoor stoves and other portable apparatus not CSA or ULC approved.

Category 2 and 3 fires are still prohibited, along with the use of fireworks, sky lanterns, burn barrels, exploding targets, and tiki torches or similar.

BC Wildfire Preparing for Scheduled Burns Near Mable Creek & Woodward Fires

The Regional District of North Okanagan is notifying all residents of scheduled burns to be conducted by BC Wildfire on Tuesday/Wednesday this week, subject to weather conditions.

Residents are encourage to visit this site for all up to date 2018 wildfire information.

Public Urged to Keep Distance from Mable Lake Road KM 10 - KM 59

The Regional District of North Okanagan is asking all residents to keep a safe distance from KM 10 – 59 on the Mabel Lake FSR in order to allow BC Forestry crews space in battling the wildfires.
