NOTICE TO GREATER VERNON WATER CUSTOMERS - Kalamalka Lake Water Source Switched to Duteau Creek Water Source

The Regional District of North Okanagan wishes to inform customers of Greater Vernon Water (GVW) that the Kalamalka Lake water source will be turned off on Thursday, April 20, 2017 due to increased turbidity in the water.

The decision to remove the Kalamalka Lake water source was based on increased turbidity due to spring run-off caused by snow melt in the Coldstream Creek watershed. Water will be supplied from the Duteau Creek Water Treatment Plant (DCWTP) until turbidity decreases in Kalamalka Lake.
Mabel Lake Forest Service Road - LOAD LIMIT WARNING

Warning to users of the Mabel Lake Forest Service Road. The 11.1 – 11.5-Km stretch of the Mable Lake Forest Service Road is currently passable for pick-up traffic only. The Maximum Load Limit for this road is posted at 4000-Kg.

The B.C. River Forecast Centre (BCRFC) reports that the snowpack in the South Thompson Basin, which includes the GVW Duteau Creek water reservoirs, is at 106% of Normal. The high elevation snowpack for the Okanagan Basin, which includes our Kalamalka Lake water source, is at 105% of Normal.
