WATER INTAKE TURN ON – Grindrod Water Utility

Posted Thursday, May 18, 2017

The Regional District of North Okanagan and Interior Health wish to inform customers of the Grindrod Water Utility, that the water intake was turned off Tuesday May 16, 2017, and turned back on Thursday May 18, 2017. There was no service interruption as there was sufficient treated water in the reservoir to supply water needs to customers.

The Grindrod Water Utility’s intake was turned off on Tuesday when a fuel spill was reported up-stream in the Shuswap River to avoid the possibility of contaminated water entering the water system. The Ministry of Environment provided the necessary response to the spill, and on Thursday, after consultation with Interior Health it was determined there was no further risk to the water quality at the intake. The intake was turned back on and service has returned to normal.
