Last Call for Water Referendum Questions

Posted Friday, November 7, 2014

This November 15th, the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) will be asking Greater Vernon Water (GVW) service area electors whether they are in favour of borrowing up to $70 million dollars to complete six priority projects outlined in the Master Water Plan (MWP). These priority projects have been selected and reviewed by a Technical Advisory Committee comprised of Engineers, Water Technologists and Chief Administrative and Financial Officers from the RDNO, City of Vernon and District of Coldstream, representatives from the agricultural community, Interior Heath, and a Council representative from the District of Coldstream. These projects have been deemed necessary to meet the requirements of the BC Drinking Water Protection Act and provide water security for Greater Vernon Water customers well into the future.

To provide information on the Borrowing Referendum and the MWP priority projects, an additional open house session is being offered next week. Please join RDNO staff at the last session:

Thursday, November 13 5:00PM TO 7:00PM SCHUBERT CENTRE, VERNON

The lead consultant of the Master Water Plan and Greater Vernon Water staff will provide an information presentation starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by a question and answer session.

For more information about the GVW MWP, please go online to the Water Vote 2014 web pages at www.rdno.ca/water or contact the RDNO at [email protected] or 250-550-3700.
