Environment Week Events

The Regional District of North Okanagan, in partnership with the City of Vernon, is pleased to host Environment Week 2014. Join us for free family-friendly events that will run from June 2 to June 7. Events include:

  • Monday, June 2, Waste Reduction Day – Win a FREE composter by submitting your waste reduction activities during Environment Week. To enter, send an email to [email protected]
     
  • Tuesday, June 3, Water Awareness Day – Irrigation Made Easy: Learn about waterwise backyard irrigation techniques, including how to set your automatic timer and use a rain sensor, at this free workshop in the Xerindipity Garden in Polson Park from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
     
  • Wednesday, June 4, Clean Air Day – Celebrate National Clean Air Day with FREE transit all day and enjoy a FREE continental breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Vernon Downtown Transit Exchange located next to Cenotaph Park on 31 Avenue.
     
  • Thursday, June 5, Sustainable Consumption Day – Visit the education station at the Vernon Farmers’ Market (Kal Tire Place, 3445 43 Ave.) from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to learn about sustainable and responsible consumption by choosing local food and supporting our agriculture industry.
     
  • Saturday, June 7, International Trails Day - Learn about our local trails and what they offer. Check www.rdno.ca/adventure for maps and park information.
