International Trails Day and Grand Opening of Farnsworth Nature Reserve

Posted Tuesday, June 2, 2015

COLDSTREAM, BC – This Saturday June 6th is International Trails Day, and in celebration the Regional District, in partnership with the Ribbons of Green Trail Society, is pleased to be hosting a grand opening event for the Farnsworth Nature Reserve and Middleton Mountain trails on the top of Middleton Mountain.

The event will start at 10:00 am, with the presentations scheduled for 10:20 am at the top of the stairway trail off of Mt. Ida Drive in Coldstream (see main event location on map). The festivities will carry on until noon, with fun activities such as a scavenger hunt and guided interpretive walks. Of course you are also welcome to just come for the views, which are some of the best in Greater Vernon!

For those folks who have mobility challenges, transportation will be provided to the event site from the east end of Mt. Tanner Place in Coldstream, with overflow parking available at Middleton Mountain Park. To catch the shuttle please be at the pick up location between 10:00
am and 10:30 am.

When in the park, please remember to stay on the designated pathways in order to protect this natural area (and stay out of the cacti). Dogs are permitted on-leash on the Middleton Mountain trails, so don’t forget your pet.

Don’t miss this chance to get out and explore this new park and these local trails on Saturday.
