IPad presented to winner of the Greater Vernon Cultural Plan draw

Posted Thursday, October 2, 2014

Greater Vernon Advisory Committee Chair, Juliette Cunningham, presented a brand new IPad to the winner of the Greater Vernon Cultural Plan IPad Draw on Thursday morning. The draw, which took place at the Greater Vernon Cultural Plan Open House at the Village Green Centre last weekend, was part of the public engagement process for the development of the Plan. Jennifer Kerr submitted her winning entry by providing input into the Plan while she attended the Riot on the Roof event at the Vernon Public Art Gallery.

“We recognize that people’s time is valuable, and we wanted a way to encourage community members to share a few minutes with us to provide their thoughts and ideas,” said Cunningham. Throughout the summer, Regional District staff, along with representatives from the steering team for the Plan, attended eleven different community events throughout Greater Vernon, including the Canada Day celebration, Vernon and Coldstream Farmers Markets, and the Downtown Vernon Association’s, Civic Sounds music night.

If you didn’t have a chance to attend any of the information and input opportunities throughout the summer, there are still ways to learn more about the Plan and provide your ideas and feedback. The Regional District website has an online questionnaire that the community can complete, or it can be picked up at the Regional District office. “We want this plan to reflect the community, so we are making every effort to be accessible and provide a variety of ways for people to give us their ideas and feedback”, says Cunningham.
