RDNO Joins the Social Media World

Posted Thursday, October 31, 2019

The Regional District of North Okanagan is taking to social media to keep residents informed and engaged. They launched an official Facebook page on October 30.

"We are excited to be joining Facebook and we hope people are excited to follow and engage with us on the platform," said Ashley Gregerson, Communications Officer. "Without the communications role existing before 2018, it was a challenge for the RDNO to expand its outreach efforts. Now, we are working hard to share information more consistently, and on the platforms that our residents are already on."

Joining social media is a key tactic within the RDNO’s Communications Plan, which recently won a gold MarCom award in an international marketing and communications award competition. The Plan began being implemented in mid-2019. Launching social media is one step in a five-year plan to expand the RDNO’s communication capacity and quality.

"People can expect to see RDNO news, events, information about the services we provide and coverage in a timelier fashion that we haven’t been able to offer before social media. We want people to get to know the RDNO!" said Gregerson.
