Public is being advised that the Lumby/Vernon Reception Centre has been deactivated.
Evacuees of the Rock Creek Fire are asked to contact their family members and friends in order to ensure their safety can be confirmed. If you are aware of any missing persons from the Rock Creek Fire evacuation area you are asked to call the Red Cross Family Reunification Line at 1-888-350-6070 to report.
Anyone requiring Emergency Social Services in the Lumby/Vernon area as a result of the Rock Creek Wildfire may contact 250-309-6144.
The public is advised that travel in the Rock Creek area is restricted. For current information regarding road closures please visit www.drivebc.ca

Historical Information:

At approximately 1:00PM a wildfire started north west of Rock Creek BC.
The fire spread quickly and the immediate area, Hulme Creek Road was evacuated.

The fire spread quickly north forcing people in the Kettle River Provincial Park to evacuate on foot and the evacuees were tactically evacuated by incident command.

The public is being advised that affected residents on Christion Valley Road to Fiva Creek were evacuated and have been directed north, up the Christion Valley Road to Lumby.

A RECEPTION CENTRE has been established and is receiving evacuees at the White Valley Community Centre, 2250 Shields Avenue, [next to the Arena/Curling Club], Lumby, BC.
