WATER QUALITY ADVISORY – Grindrod Water Utility - RESCINDED

Posted Thursday, May 11, 2017

Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) – Grindrod Water Utility (GRW) with Interior Health, advises customers that the WATER QUALITY ADVISORY issued for our customers on May 11, 2017 has been RESCINDED. All bacterial testing results and disinfection (chlorine) levels are satisfactory in the distribution system and the water has returned to a “Good” rating.

How is the water treated to protect public health?
The water from the Shuswap River is pumped to a water treatment facility that uses a filtration process and chlorine for disinfection. Chlorine works effectively against bacteria and helps maintain safe drinking water within the distribution system.

What does a Good rating mean?
A good rating means the water is safe to drink with the exception for customers with immune compromised systems. Persons, who are unsure whether their immune system is compromised, should discuss the need to take precautions with their physician.

The RDNO – GRW continuously monitors the water quality and will notify the public if conditions change. If you have any questions, please contact the RDNO at 250-550-3700 or check our website at www.rdno.ca.
