Noxious Weeds & Invasive Plants

The goal of the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) Noxious Weed program is to prevent the introduction of new species of noxious weeds and invasive plants, and to reduce the spread of existing noxious weed infestations to minimize the impacts on lands within the North Okanagan.

Noxious Insects

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) regulates the control of noxious insects pursuant to the provisions of RDNO Noxious Insect Control Bylaw No. 59 (90Kb) in the District of Coldstream, the City of Vernon, and Electoral Areas “B”, “C”, “D”, “E”, “F”.

Starling Control

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) is one of the three participating Okanagan regional districts in the Starling Control program.  This program aims to reduce the number of starlings, which are considered to be one of the world's 100 Worst Invasive Species.  The Starling Control program also includes a research component that investigates starling population dynamics.
