Noxious Insects

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) regulates the control of noxious insects pursuant to the provisions of RDNO Noxious Insect Control Bylaw No. 59 (90Kb) in the District of Coldstream, the City of Vernon, and Electoral Areas “B”, “C”, “D”, “E”, “F”.

All owners or occupiers of real property within the service area are required to prevent and control the following noxious or destructive insects:

  • Codling moth
  • Ambrosia beetle
  • European fruit scale
  • San Jose scale
  • Tussock moth
  • Cherry fruit fly
  • Pear psylla
  • Shot Hole borer

    The BC Ministry of Agriculture maintains a comprehensive web site to help you identify, prevent and control noxious insects. Also check with your local garden center/nursery/qualified professional for procedures that are recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture, and the tree fruit, forestry, or horticultural industries, as responsible methods of controlling specific pests.
