Recycling and Disposal Facility and Transfer Station Recycling Drop Centres

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) provides Recycling Drop Centres at the six Recycling & Disposal Facilities (RDFs) and Transfer Stations (TSs)  in the North Okanagan for use by residents and businesses.

Containers are provided at each site for loose cardboard, and clear or blue bagged newspaper, mixed paper, food grade aluminum and tin, and #1-7 food grade plastic containers. The cost of providing Recycling Drop Centres services (bin rental, hauling and processing) is funded by RDF recycling and disposal fees.

RDNO Recycling Drop Centre services are separate and distinct from the residential curbside and depot program for Printed Paper and Packaging provided by Recycle BC.  For a complete list of recyclable materials accepted curbside and at Recycle BC depots, please visit the Recycle BC webpage www.recyclebc.ca.

Styrofoam is accepted for recycling at the Greater Vernon Recycling and Disposal Facility and the Armstrong Spallumcheen Recycling and Disposal Facility.  The tipping fee for Styrofoam is $95/tonne with a $4 minimum charge. Styrofoam is accepted at no charge at the Recycle BC depots in Vernon at Interior Freight and Bottle Depot and Venture Training Centre, in Armstrong at the Armstrong Spallumcheen Bottle Depot, and in Lumby at the Venture Bottle Depot.

Glass bottles and jars are accepted at all six RDNO facilities at no charge. The glass collected is utilized at each site as current markets for glass make recycling this material unfeasible. Glass bottles and jars are also accepted at Recycle BC depots.
