Open Burning - Small Confined Fires
Small confined fires are allowed without a permit provided that all of the following conditions are met:
- the property owner has granted permission for the small confined fire;
- the fire occurs only between 6 a.m. and 12 a.m. (midnight);
- an open fire restriction order issued by the agency responsible for Forest Service in British Columbia is not in effect;
- the fire is not located within 5 meters from adjoining property lines and buildings, or 3 meters from any combustibles;
- the fire is controlled such that sparks, ash, or cinders are prevented from igniting other combustible materials;
- the fire is maintained so as not create a nuisance to the neighbourhood or persons in the vicinity; and
- the fire is continuously controlled and supervised by a competent person equipped with extinguishing equipment and material, and must be completely extinguished before the person leaves the area.
