The 2010 RDNO Spring Free Yard Waste Drop Off Period runs from March 15th to April 30th. Yard waste will be accepted free of charge at all RDNO Recycling and Disposal Facilities.
“Yard Waste” means organic material originating from yard and garden management, maintenance, repair and construction and delivered to an RDF in the Regional District including but not limited to:
- trimmings and prunings (<20 cm in diameter and 2 m long)
- leaves
- grass
- mulch
- flowers
- vegetable stalks
- wood or herbaceous waste
- wood chips
- wind fallen fruit and vegetables; and
- trees trunks and stumps (< 20 cm in diameter)
This does not include animal feces, cardboard, plastic, soil, rocks, fencing, fabric, netting and other non-vegetated landscaping and gardening waste.
Only residential self-haulers are permitted to deposit yard waste free of charge during the free yard waste drop off period. Commercial landscape maintenance companies are required to pay the regular yard waste tipping fee.
Bagged yard waste must be removed from bags and disposal of anything other than yard waste in the yard waste pile is not permitted.
