On Tuesday, March 9, 2010 the reservoir at the Water Treatment Plant will be drained for cleaning. There will be no water available from 8:00 am until approximately 6:00 pm.
Customers are advised to store some water for drinking the day before. Bathtubs may be useful to store water for filling toilet bowls during the disruption. It is also recommended to turn off the main shut-off valve (located just before the water meter) to prevent draining the home water piping and hot water tank.
The draining of the reservoir and the resultant draining of the distribution system will result in increased turbidity (cloudiness) of the water when the system is put back into operation. The distribution system will also be flushed the following day, if necessary. Residual chlorine levels will be increased but as a precaution residents are advised to boil their water until Thursday, March 11, 2010 (after midnight Wednesday night).
It is possible that the cleaning may not be completed before 6:00 pm and the return to service may be delayed for a short time. Every effort will be made to have the system back in service as soon as possible. We thank you in advance for you co-operation.
