Electoral Area ‘D’ (Rural Lumby) and ‘E’ (Cherryville) Official Community Plan Review

The Regional District of North Okanagan has started a project to review the Electoral Area ‘D’ and ‘E’ (Rural Lumby and Cherryville) Official Community Plan (OCP). An OCP is a document that outlines directions for the future of an area. The plan captures community values and the residents’ visions for their future, including community responses to growth and plans for sustainability. Once adopted by the Regional District Board of Directors, the plan becomes a guide for future decision making.

The content of an OCP can include policies on;

Proposed land use and density;
Transportation, water and wastewater infrastructure;
Environmentally sensitive areas, parks and open space;
Housing needs and policies;
Public facilities, including schools, health care, etc;
Neighbourhood character;
Social policies;
Economic development;
Targets, policies and actions for the reduction of Greenhouse Gas emissions;
The regulation of development; and
Building and landscape design guidelines.

As part of the first steps in the planning process we would like to gather your ideas about what you would like to see for the future of the plan area. This is your chance to have a say in the future of the community. Please provide YOUR input!
