Regional Growth Strategy Working Groups

COLDSTREAM, BC – Widespread Community Participation is essential to envisioning a common future. Working meaningfully together, in a collaborative and cooperative way, will ensure that that our shared vision will be defined through capturing the diverse perspectives and interests present within the Region. The Working Groups provide a public participation option for those that want to be involved in contributing their technical expertise and experience to developing a sustainable future.

The Working Groups will be an essential focal point for gathering expertise in local growth issue priorities, goals, objectives, and strategies. The resulting growth strategy recommendations will be considered by the Regional Board for inclusion in the Regional Growth Strategy.

The Regional District of North Okanagan will enlist interested, knowledgeable, and experienced representatives from community organizations that have the necessary local expertise, knowledge, or experience. Local advocates for the public-at-large with experience in the growth issues are encouraged to apply.

The Growth Issues Working Groups are:

  • Economic Development
  • Water Stewardship
  • Urban Containment
  • Attainable Housing and Social Issues
  • Environmental Policy and Natural Lands
  • Governance and Service Delivery
  • Transportation
  • Agriculture and Food Systems

Participation in the Working Groups is non-paid and voluntary and will require your time and commitment for a series of 4-hour meetings to discuss goals, objectives and strategies for the above mentioned growth issues. The Working Groups will meet three to four times, usually in the evenings, with each meeting lasting up to four hours. These meetings will be based on respectful, consensus-based decision-making.

Please fill out the Working Group application form on the RDNO website (www.rdno.ca) or call Anthony Kittel, Regional Growth Strategy Coordinator at (250) 550-3750 to have an application sent to you. GET INVOLVED IN SHAPING OUR FUTURE!
