Regional Growth Strategy Website

COLDSTREAM, BC – On February 20th, 2009, the Regional District of North Okanagan Regional Growth Strategy website was launched. In support of the Regional Growth Strategy Participation Plan, adopted by the Regional Board on November 5th, 2008, and the communication strategy, the website will be the source of information about the Regional Growth Strategy’s process, progress and public participation. Community input opportunities and public surveys will be featured on the website, as well as summaries of participation events and activities. Find out more – please visit the rdno.ca webpage.

Community input is vital to the process and we want to hear from you. We are looking for input from the community-at-large on the following growth issues:

  • Economic Development
  • Water Stewardship
  • Urban Containment
  • Affordable Housing and Social Issues
  • Environmental Policy and Natural Lands
  • Governance and Service Delivery
  • Transportation
  • Agriculture and Food Systems

We are looking for local answers to these questions regarding the above growth issues: What is important to you? What is working? What is not working? Do you have any suggestions that will address these growth issues? You can add your voice to the process through Community Input on the Regional Growth Strategy webpage. GET INVOLVED IN SHAPING OUR FUTURE!

If you want to get more involved, there are Working Groups being established to tackle certain growth issues. The Working Groups will be an essential focal point for gathering expertise in local growth issue priorities, goals, objectives, and strategies. The resulting growth strategy recommendations will be considered by the Regional Board for inclusion in the Regional Growth Strategy.

The Regional District of North Okanagan will enlist interested, knowledgeable, and experienced representatives from community organizations that have the necessary local expertise, knowledge, or experience. Local advocates for the public-at-large with experience in the growth issues are encouraged to apply. Participation in the Working Groups is non-paid and voluntary and will require your time and commitment for a series of 3-hour meetings to discuss goals, objectives and strategies for the growth issues. If you want to apply for one of the Working Groups, the application is online on the RDNO homepage.

To find out more about the Regional Growth Strategy, the Working Groups, and events in your neighbourhood, please visit the Regional Growth Strategy website.
