COLDSTREAM, BC - Young artists throughout the North Okanagan are invited to
submit their entries for the first annual Clean Air Day Poster Contest, sponsored by
105.7 Sun FM, the Regional District of North Okanagan and the City of Vernon.
The poster contest is open to students from any grade level and winners will be chosen
from four categories:
- Elementary Group One (K to 3)
- Elementary Group Two (4 to 6)
- Middle (7 to 9)
- and Senior Secondary (10 to 12).
The grand prize winner, who will be chosen from the four category winners, will receive
an amazing prize and their poster will be used throughout the North Okanagan to
promote Clean Air Day and the North Okanagan Commuter Challenge. Prizes will also
be awarded to the category winners.
The Commuter Challenge is an annual friendly competition between cities across
Canada to see which one can encourage the most people to choose healthy and
environmentally friendly forms of transportation (transit, cycling, walking, carpooling,
running, in-line skating, kayaking, canoeing and skateboarding).
All students wishing to enter the poster contest must submit their creations by March 13,
2009. Posters can be mailed or dropped off at the Regional District of North Okanagan,
9848 Aberdeen Road, Coldstream, B.C. V1B 2K9, and Attention: Air Quality
Coordinator. The student's name, teacher, grade level, and school should be clearly
printed on the back of each poster. Posters can be created on paper ranging in size

The 2009 Commuter Challenge will run from June 1 to June 5, with Clean Air Day falling
on Wednesday, June 3. This year's Commuter Challenge promises to be more active
and exciting than ever before.
