COLDSTREAM, BC – The Regional District of North Okanagan has received confirmation of a successful conclusion in the matter of a legal action taken towards a registered company owning an agricultural property in Electoral Area “F” (Mara rural). The Regional District recently obtained a Court Order allowing for the issuance of an Injunction to discontinue an illegal use of placing of multiple Recreational Vehicles for seasonal use on the subject property located adjacent to the Shuswap River.
Through the efforts of Regional District Bylaw Enforcement staff, the owners of the property were originally advised of Regional District regulations which allow for the placing of a maximum number of one Recreational Vehicle on a property for a period of no more than thirty days within a calendar year. The owners chose to continue to use the property in contravention of local bylaws resulting in a legal action and the receipt of the above-mentioned Court Order.
“In light of some of the concerns raised by area residents, pertaining to sewage disposal on properties adjacent to the river and the general protection of our natural environment, this matter was placed in the forefront of our enforcement efforts.” says Chair Herman Halvorson.
