COLDSTREAM, BC – The 2010 Blue Bag Recycling Guide has a new look, and contains more information at your finger tips! With the help of several community partners, the calendar contains even more useful information to help residents with frequently asked questions about waste reduction and recycling, sustainability, water conservation, air quality, and parks. The new calendar is pumped full of helpful tips and ‘did you knows’, as well as opportunities to become involved in various events throughout the year. Each month has a different theme presented in an informative and colourful way. Important phone numbers and websites have been included to make the questions you have easier to answer.
“We are pleased that this calendar has been a real community effort” states Karmen Morgan, Waste Reduction Coordinator. “The calendar was designed and printed locally and involved local partners to move the content beyond recycling to include other environmental topics and made to be more relevant for North Okanagan residents.”
The calendar is packed with information on Recycling and Disposal Facilities, various local recycling and reuse depots with many phone numbers and websites to find the most up to date information possible. New to the calendar this year is a convenient, one page, year-at-a-glance collection schedule, corresponding map and route descriptions, as well as a quick reference on how to recycle the items accepted in the Curbside Blue Bag Program. “We understand that not all residents find the full calendar version convenient for everyday use and have devised a quick reference version for those on the go!” states Morgan.
Watch your mail between Christmas and the beginning of the New Year for your new 2010 Regional District of North Okanagan Recycling Guide and stay on top of what is happening in the North Okanagan. Calendars will be available in the New Year at local municipal offices, and online at www.rdno.ca. If you do not receive your calendar in January, please contact the RDNO at 250-550-3700. Calendars are delivered according to postal codes and not recycling routes. If you have received a guide and are not part of the Curbside Blue Bag Recycling Program, feel free to use it as a reference.
