The Chief Building Inspector, Pat Luscombe,
manages the Building Department with a staff of four. A broad
range of Building Inspection services are provided to the
residents in the North Okanagan. The Regional District provides
Building Inspection services to all Electoral Areas as well
as the communities of Enderby, Armstrong, Spallumcheen
and Lumby. The City of Vernon and District of Coldstream have their own building inspection
departments
Services Provided Include:
- The Building Department conducts reviews of all building
permit applications for conformance with the BC Building
Code requirements, development bylaws, and other related
regulations.

Effective February 15th, 2010, the Regional District of North Okanagan will require the submission of engineered structural drawings and B1 & B2 schedules, Schedule P and Certificate of Insurance for the entire building structure(s). This must be included with all Building Permit applications to construct residential, commercial and industrial buildings and substantial building additions within the Silver Star Mountain Resort in Electoral Area “C”.

Riparian Areas Regulation
The Provincial Riparian Areas Regulations are now in effect as of March 31, 2006. This legislation will affect all lands near watercourses (lakes, creeks, wetlands, ponds, springs) and ravines.
