The Regional Growth Strategy is a long-term regional vision that promotes compact complete communities while protecting our rural areas and natural assets from sprawling development.

The Regional Growth Strategy policies will inform and be reflected in Official Community Plans through Regional Context Statements.

We are over half way there! The Regional District of the North Okanagan is considering the recommendations that have been suggested by the 8 Working Groups and have continued to ask the public what the North Okanagan should look like in 20 years. These are some of the accomplishments over the last year:

  • 135 Working Group Members
  •  34 Working Group Meetings
  •  3 Open Houses (so far)
  • 3 Surveys
  • 4 Youth Contests
  •  Over 575 Public Comments
  • 100+ Recommendations
  •  Considering a Memorandum of Understanding on Planning Decisions
  • Agreement by all jurisdictions on the RGS Vision, Terms of Reference and Participation Plan

Check out the Regional Growth Strategy Checklist (325Kb PDF - Updated July 7, 2010) to keep up to date.
