The North Okanagan RCMP
Victims Assistance Program is an extension of RCMP
services funded by the Regional District. The Victims
Assistance Coordinator, is responsible
for program development and delivery, recruiting and
training volunteers, liaising with the RCMP on Program
Development, as well as Community Public Relations.
Services Trained Volunteers Provide Include:
emotional support
information on trauma reactions
information on progress of police file
information on home security
information on criminal justice system,
case progress, court orientation and court accompaniment
information on crime scene clean-up
and revictimization prevention
assist victim with Criminal Injury
Compensation forms or Victim Impact Statement, where
applicable
referrals to other Victim servic Programs,
community agencies or professionals for additional
support, counselling or other identified needs
crisis intervention by trained
workers 24 hours a day accessed through the RCMP
(These aforementioned services
are free of charge.)
