The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) has three (3) Fire Departments; BX-Swan Lake, Lumby and District and Silver Star. All three fire departments use a system that pays their volunteer firefighters based on their attendance to calls, meetings, training, and practices referred to as paid on-call (POC) firefighters. RDNO provides all of the necessary training.
