Updated: Mabel Lake Water - Water Quality Advisory RESCINDED

Alert level
Low

Update: August 23, 2022 - 2:20pm

Mabel Lake Water (MLW), in conjunction with Interior Health, advises customers that the Water Quality Advisory (WQA) issued on July 14, 2022 is now RESCINDED.

Why this notice changed

The WQA is rescinded because the turbidity (cloudiness) levels that were over 1.0 NTU, which caused the WQA, have now decreased to acceptable levels (less than 1.0 NTU) and the WQA can be rescinded. Sampling results confirm the drinking water is safe.

Update - July 14, 2022 - 11:34am

Mabel Lake Water (MLW), in conjunction with Interior Health, advises customers that the Boil Water Notice (BWN) issued on June 26, 2022 is being DOWNGRADED to a Water Quality Advisory (WQA).

The WQA is in effect until the turbidity (cloudiness) levels have returned to acceptable levels and sampling results confirm that the drinking water is safe.

Why this notice changed

The turbidity levels that went over 5.0 NTU, which triggered the BWN, have now decreased; however they are still exceeding acceptable levels (1.0 NTU) and is why a WQA is necessary.

What should affected customers do?

Until the WQA is rescinded, young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems should exercise caution and all customers may choose to boil their water for at least one minute when using for the following purposes:

  • drinking
  • brushing teeth
  • washing fruits & vegetables to be eaten raw
  • making beverages or ice
