FireSmart Home Ignition Zone Assessments are a great way to learn what actions you can take to better prepare your home for the wildfire season. By registering for this pilot program, RDNO residents will receive an on-site visit by a qualified Local FireSmart Representative (LFR). The LFR will conduct an inspection of your property, the exterior of your home, and outbuildings to provide constructive actions you can take to best protect your property from wildfire and embers.
During the visit (typically 1-2 hours), you can ask the LFR questions relating to your property and, at the end, receive a copy of the assessment. Assessments will be conducted from 15 May 2025 to 31 November 2025 as assessors are available.
Step 1: Register HERE while spots last! This program is for Electoral Area residents ONLY. All other residents must reach out to their local municipality for information on FireSmart programs in their area (Coldstream, Vernon, Armstrong, Enderby, Spallumcheen)
Step 2: If selected, you will be contacted by a FireSmart representative to book your assessment time. (Response time is subject to the availability of an LFR).
Step 3: Meet the LFR at your property at the designated time, prepared to walk your property and with questions in hand.
Step 4: Review your personal FireSmart Home Ignition Zone Assessment and with your new FireSmart knowledge, take action to protect your property from wildfires.
How to Prepare for your Assessment:
- Ensure pets are secured, out of the areas to be inspected
- Be ready for your scheduled time
- You have your questions ready and a notepad to record any personalized FireSmart insights.
