2026 General Local Election

Candidate Nomination packages are available for download below. Packages are also available for pickup at the RDNO office, City of Enderby and Village of Lumby Municipal Halls.

Nomination documents will be accepted by the Regional District between 9:00 am Tuesday, September 1, 2026 and 4:00 pm Friday, September 11, 2026 during regular business hours.

People considering running in local elections have access to resources that provide information about the roles and responsibilities of elected local officials. Educational videos and brochures are available online. These resources are to assist people in making informed decisions about running for local government offices.

Signage regulations are contained within Section Eleven of the Regional District of North Okanagan Zoning Bylaw No. 3000.

Election offences and penalties are prescribed in Part 3, Division 18 of the Local Government Act and in the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act.

General Local Elections are held in compliance with the Local Government Act.

This section will be updated closer to the General Election date, once polling station information is available.

There is no need to pre-register to vote, as the registration of qualified electors will take place at the time of voting. You will be required to make a declaration that you meet the following requirements:

• 18 years of age or older on general voting day;
• Canadian citizen;
• resident of B.C. for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration;
• resident of, or registered owner of real property in the proposed area (minimum 30 days immediately before the day of registration for non-resident property owners);
• not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in the general election and not otherwise disqualified by law.

What to Do If:

I live in one of the Electoral Areas: Resident Electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature). Picture identification is not necessary. The identification must prove both residency and identity.

I live on Reserve: Electors living on Reserve are eligible to vote if all other criteria above are met. The Province has prepared a Voter's Guide for Electors Living on Reserve.

I own property but do not live in one of the Electoral Areas: Non-Resident Electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove identity, provide proof of ownership (such as a tax assessment, certificate of title, transfer papers, etc.), and, if there is more than one owner, provide written consent from a majority of the property owners to one owner voting.
