Project Description

Pottery Road from 15 Street to Highway 6
This water main project replaces approximately 723 metres of 1981, 250mm diameter ductile iron water main. This section of water main was identified as a high-priority replacement project based
on the calculated risk using RiLCAMP (Greater Vernon Water risk tool) and high number of breaks. The water main is approximately 43 years old and is in a highly corrosive area of soil (detrimental to metallic materials), with an average of 2.4 breaks per 100 metres, ranking it as having one of the highest densities of breaks in Greater Vernon Water. There were four (4) breaks in 2024, one (1) break in 2025, and about 19 in total.

18 Street from Pottery Road to 20 Avenue
18 Street had a second water main break in December 2025 and due to the pipe size, soil conditions and local topography have caused substantial damage downstream, including in the City of Vernon's storm system. This portion of the project was added in early 2026 with Board approval received at the January 21, 2026 Board meeting.
