Project Description
The RDNO owns, and the City of Vernon operates, McMechan Pump Station, which supplies potable water to two (2) pressure zones within the Greater Vernon Water (GVW) distribution system. McMechan Pump Station is a critical site for pumping water from the Kalamalka Lake source into the 580-pressure zone (PZ 580), an area of the GVW distribution system that is normally fed from the Duteau Creek source. The addition of a standby generator and related electrical equipment will also allow for water to be pumped to the 665-pressure zone (PZ665), which is a pressure zone fed from a reservoir with limited water availability during longer power outages.
The backup generator is proposed to power at minimum one (1) pump for each pressure zone and facility electrical loads, including HVAC, lighting, and control system.
