Greater Vernon Water - Water Service Interruption and Water Quality Advisory - Haynes Rd and Fairburn Rd

Type
Water Notice

From the City of Vernon:
As part of ongoing efforts by the Regional District of the North Okanagan (RDNO) to maintain water quality and infrastructure, customers on Haynes Rd and Fairburn Rd will notice a water disruption on Thursday, May 28, 2026 between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

During this period, water service to your residence will be temporarily turned off. To minimize the
inconvenience, we recommend that you take the following precautions:

  • Plan ahead and store an adequate supply of water for drinking, cooking, household
    needs, and sanitation purposes.
  • Ensure that faucets are turned off to prevent any damage once the water service is
    restored.

Following the water interruption, a Water Quality Advisory (WQA) will be in effect until Saturday,
May 30, 2026 at 5:00 pm, unless otherwise notified.

During this time, you may notice reduced water pressure, air in the water, discoloration and/or
increased turbidity (cloudiness). Please run a cold tap until the water has cleared. An outside tap
is preferred.

The level of treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, customers with
weakened immune systems, or those wishing to take extra precaution, should boil their water for
at least one minute when preparing any food, drinking water, washing fruits & vegetables, making
beverages or ice, or when brushing teeth.
