Project Description
The Cherryville Firewatch Society is constructing a new 1,944-square-foot Firewatch Building at 1217 Highway 6 in Cherryville, Electoral Area E, to enhance wildfire monitoring, emergency response capacity, and community safety.
The facility will provide a dedicated base of operations for Cherryville Firewatch Society volunteers, including space for equipment storage, training, and administrative functions. The new building will support faster wildfire detection, improved coordination with emergency services, enhanced emergency preparedness, and public education initiatives related to wildfire prevention and fire safety.
Funding for the project includes $75,000 from the Community Works Fund (CWF), with the remaining project costs supported through community fundraising efforts, donations, and other local contributions.
As an eligible project under the Community Works Fund Fire Halls and Fire Trucks category, this investment will create a critical community asset that strengthens emergency response capabilities, supports public safety, and helps protect residents, property, and natural resources in Cherryville for years to come.
