Project Description
Please be advised that the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) will be temporarily closing the Mabel Lake boat launch at Kingfisher from Monday, August 11 to Friday, August 15, 2025 to allow for dock upgrades.
These upgrades are designed to:
- Improve accessibility during low water levels
- Increase moorage capacity on the dock
The timing of this work aligns with the annual fisheries work window, which ensures the project is completed in an environmentally responsible manner.
We thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete these important improvements. The boat launch is expected to reopen on Saturday, August 16, 2025, weather and construction conditions permitting.
August 11, 2025 update: Dismantling and removal of boat launch
August 21, 2025 Updates: The Mabel Lake Dock Improvements have been completed, and we owe a huge thanks to the MAKERS Society, especially Dave Hennesey and Doug Clark, for stretching our dollars. Through volunteer efforts, they were able to complete much more than our budget allowed. The photos below showing the extended ramp and larger wharf that allows users to dock their boats on the downstream side.
