Type
Water Notice

Greater Vernon Water (GVW), in conjunction with Interior Health, advises that customers located on Dunsmuir Road (see attached map of the affected area) are under a Boil Water Notice effective Friday, July 10, 2020.

Why are customers affected?

As a precaution, all customers who receive water from GVW in the area noted above are on a Boil Water Notice due to poor water quality test results in the water distribution system. Water samples have shown Total Coliform bacteria counts within the distribution system and therefore GVW is advising customers to exercise caution when consuming the water.

What does a Boil Water Notice mean?

A Boil Water Notice means that until that until the Boil Water Notice is rescinded all customers should exercise caution when using the water for consumption purposes.

What should customers do?

Water intended for the following uses, should be boiled for one minute:

  • Drinking
  • Brushing teeth
  • Washing fruits & vegetables to be eaten raw
  • Preparing any foods

GVW is continuing to monitor the situation in the area and will advise when conditions return to normal. If you have any questions about this Boil Water Notice, please contact GVW at 250-550-3700 or check our website.
