Grindrod Water Customers – Outdoor Water Conservation
Starting today, May 16, 2025, outdoor water conservation is in effect for Grindrod Water customers due to the impacts of spring run-off on the Grindrod Water (GRW) Treatment Plant. Melting snow has resulted in an increased presence of particles in the water like clay and silt (turbidity) that enter the Treatment Plant.
When turbidity rises, operators slow the rate at which raw water passes through treatment processes so the plant can still effectively filter out particles and disinfect the drinking water. Since less water can move through the plant, restrictions on non-essential water uses are important .
Current water conservation measures allow GRW customers to water outdoors with sprinklers according to a schedule based on their street address.
Water Conservation Schedule - Sprinkler Use Allowed between 7:00pm - 10:00am
Even House Address - Sunday, Wednesday, Friday
Odd House Address - Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
No Sprinklers on Monday
Residents may water at any time by hand with a watering can or hose with a spring-loaded shut-off nozzle. Drip irrigation is also allowed at any time, as evaporation is minimal when the water is applied directly at the plant roots. For more information, please visit GRW Water Restrictions.
