The Regional District of North Okanagan received a Gold AVA Digital Award for its new website that launched in November of 2021. AVA Digital Awards is an international competition that recognizes excellence by creative professionals responsible for the planning, concept, direction, design, and production of digital communication.

The previous website had not been refreshed since 2012, which left it lacking modern functionality and design. So, in 2021 the RDNO reviewed and revised all of the content on over 270 web pages, reorganized the structure, and added creative solutions that enhance the user experience. Despite the pandemic and the 2021 wildfire season occurring in tandem with this project, the RDNO completed the overhaul on time and under budget.

“The new website significantly improves our ability to communicate effectively with residents and stakeholders. We are thrilled to receive this recognition from the digital creative industry and thank the Board of Directors for their continued support for the implementation of the RDNO Communications Plan,” said Ashley Gregerson, Communications Officer, RDNO.

The RDNO worked with the award-winning digital agency, Upanup, to complete the redevelopment. Some of the new features include improved navigation and search, dedicated web pages that outline the services each member community receives from the RDNO, and a grants portal.
