Update: May 9, 2025

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO), in conjunction with Interior Health, advises customers supplied by the Silver Star Utility (SSW) on Silver Queen Rd that starting May 12, 2025, there will be a water outage while planned leak repair work is completed. Customers on Silver Queen Rd are currently on a Water Quality Advisory (WQA) as a result of the temporary repair on May 7, 2025 (see map of affected area).

Why is this notice in place?

The planned leak repair work is scheduled for May 12, 2025, which will cause a water loss to customers between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. This could be extended if unforeseen circumstances arise. It is suggested that you store a short-term water supply for cooking and toilet use before the interruption.

What should affected customers do?

When the water service resumes, properties in the area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and/or air. Please run cold water until the water has cleared.  An outside tap(s) is preferred. Protect outside taps from freezing if used.

Some customers may wish to boil their water for at least one minute when preparing food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or brushing their teeth.

The RDNO will notify customers when the WQA is rescinded.

Original: May 7, 2025

Due to a water main break, customers on Silver Queen Road are without water while crews make repairs.  In conjunction with Interior Health, the Regional District of North Okanagan advises customers that they will be on a Water Quality Advisory once the water has been restored.  The map of the affected properties is below.

What should affected customers do?

When the water service resumes, properties in the area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and/or air. Please run cold water until the water has cleared.  An outside tap(s) is preferred. Protect outside taps from freezing if used.

All customers should boil their water for at least one minute when preparing food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or brushing their teeth.

Why is this notice in place?

Affected customers who receive water from the Silver Star Water Utility are on a Water Quality Advisory (WQA) when water service is restored.   During the emergency water main repair, a portion of the water utility was shut down and depressurized. Once the repair has been completed, the utility will respond to this issue by flushing the impacted water mains and completing bacteriological sampling to ensure that no contaminants have been introduced to the distribution system.
