SDS Conducting Rail Trail & Culvert Maintenance Between Enderby & Rosemond Lake

Type
Media Release

Splatsin Development Corporation (SDC) is currently carrying out essential rail trail maintenance along the section of the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail corridor from Enderby to the Rosemond Lake bridge. This work follows recent brush clearing efforts and is part of SDC’s ongoing commitment to ensuring safety, proper drainage, and the long-term sustainability of the corridor.

Work began last week, with SDC crews using a D6 Cat to smooth and stabilize the existing rail bed while addressing culvert maintenance along the way. These activities are focused on maintaining and protecting the integrity of the corridor and surrounding lands.

Please note that no new trail construction or aggregate placement will occur until further notice. SDC is currently awaiting formal approval from the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) before proceeding with any additional development on the trail.

“We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we complete this necessary work,” said Grahame Go, CEO of Splatsin Development Corporation. “This maintenance will improve condtions and drainage while helping prepare the corridor for future enhancements once approvalss are in place.”

For everyone’s safety, SDC respectfully asks the public to avoid entering active work areas during this time. Signage will be posted where appropriate.

Trail Access Reminder
Residents are reminded that only select sections of the trail are currently open to the public, including:
• The trail through Enderby
• The section from km 0.5 to km 14.8 heading out of Sicamous (please note: access is currently restricted due to Bruhn Bridge construction and limited trailhead parking on the west side of the Sicamous Narrows)
• The section from km 49.15 to km 50.15 into Armstrong, which remains open for use

Please stay tuned for further updates as SDC continues its work on this important regional corridor.
