Update - October 14, 2026 - 3:36pm
The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO), in conjunction with Interior Health, advises customers supplied by the Mabel Lake Water Utility (MLW) that the water main shut off work is complete on Walker Road and that there will be a planned water outage on Dolly Varden Road on October 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. while construction work is completed in that area.
The Boil Water Notice (BWN) is being downgraded to a Water Quality Advisory (WQA) as the work was able to be completed with less impact to the water system than originally planned. The WQA will be in effect for some customers on Dolly Varden and Walker Road (see map) until sampling results confirm the drinking water is safe. While water service to customers is being restored, you may experience some turbidity, which is normal. Please run a cold water tap until the water runs clear. An outdoor tap is preferred.

Original Notice - October 13, 2026
The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO), in conjunction with Interior Health, advises some customers on Dolly Varden and Walker Roads (see map of affected area) supplied by the Mabel Lake Water Utility (MLW) of a planned water outage on October 14 and 15, 2026 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm while construction work is completed.
Some customers on Dolly Varden and Walker Roads will be on a Boil Water Notice (BWN) as a result of the work (see map of affected area). The BWN will be in effect until sampling results confirm that the drinking water is safe.
Why is this notice in place?
Planned construction is scheduled to occur on October 14 and 15, 2026 which could cause water loss to customers between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm on both days and could be extended each day if unforeseen circumstances arise. It is suggested that you store a short-term water supply for cooking and toilet use before the potential interruption.
What should affected customers do?
When water service resumes, properties in the area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and/or air in the water. Please run cold water until the water has cleared. An outside tap(s) is preferred.
The level of treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, some customers with weakened immune systems and/or those wishing additional protection may wish to boil their water for at least one minute when preparing food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or brushing their teeth. The RDNO will notify customers when the WQA is rescinded.
Where can I find updates?
