Type
Water Notice

Update - April 8 1:40 pm

Greater Vernon Water (GVW), in conjunction with Interior Health, advises customers in the Okanagan Landing area that the Precautionary Water Quality Advisory put in place on April 5 is RESCINDED as of April 8, 2022. The map of areas that were included in the Advisory is under the original notice below.

The large mainline valve has been replaced, flows have returned to normal and bacterial testing results and disinfection (chlorine) levels are satisfactory in the distribution system therefore the GVW Water Quality Advisory is RESCINDED.

Update - April 6 8:45 pm

Crews have completed repairs on the water main lines along Okanagan Landing Road and Lakeshore Road. Crews are now working on returning the distribution system back into service. Given the size of the area impacted by the water service interruption, it could take up to two hours for water to return to all properties.

Residents that experienced the water service interruption may notice turbidity (cloudiness) or air in their tap water. If you experience either of these things, please run a cold water tap at a low volume until the water has cleared.

The RDNO thanks everyone again for their patience and understanding as these emergency repairs were completed.

Update - April 6, 2022 - 1:24 pm

The work in the notice below has been completed but two new separate water main valves nearby require emergency repair.  Crews are working on the repair, but until further notice, properties in the following areas will experience a temporary water outage:

  • 6335 - 7090 Okanagan Landing Rd
  • Lakeshore Rd (from Okanagan Landing Rd to 2691 Lakeshore Rd)
  • Marshall Fields
  • Cummins Rd
  • Dallas Rd
  • Captain Bailey Rd and Captain Bailey Way
  • Willow Park Rd
  • Longacre Dr to Apollo Rd and Upper Apollo Rd

Additionally, properties in the following areas are asked to maintain minimized water usage:

  • Properties west of the 7000 block of Okanagan Landing Rd to the border of the Outback
  • Sunset Properties
  • Whitepoint Road
  • Predator Ridge

The service interruption is expected to last approximately 8 hours, and the service interruption area could expand without notice.

Single lane alternating traffic will be set up in the areas where crews are working on the repairs. Motorists traveling in the area should expect minor travel delays, and are reminded to slow down in construction zones and obey all traffic control measures.

The RDNO apologizes for any inconvenience this disruption may cause and thanks everyone for your patience and understanding. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
