In conjunction with Interior Health, the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) advises some customers supplied by Greater Vernon Water that they are on a precautionary BOIL WATER NOTICE (BWN) until sampling results confirm the drinking water is safe. The affected area includes 1802, 1804, 1809 45 Ave and 4500 Pleasant Valley Road (see map).
A water main break in this area has resulted in a loss of water for some customers. Crews are currently working to repair the water main and restore water. The RDNO is issuing a precautionary BWN to the affected area while sampling and testing of the water main occurs to ensure the continued safety of the water system.
What should affected customers do?
Properties in the area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and / or air. Please run a cold water tap until the water has cleared. An outside tap is preferred.
The level of treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, customers in the affected area should boil their water for at least one minute when preparing food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or when their brushing teeth.
When this notice is rescinded, affected customers will be notified through a hand-delivered notice, a posting on the RDNO website, and updates to the locally posted signs. To subscribe for notifications, please visit www.rdno.ca/subscribe.
