In conjunction with Interior Health, the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) advises some customers supplied by Greater Vernon Water that they are on a precautionary Water Quality Advisory (WQA). The affected area includes 1500-1608 18 Ave (see map).
Following disinfection and testing, your water service will be temporarily provided by an overland pipe. The water quality will not change, but the temporary overland pipe will have less physical protection from potential damage than the buried permanent water pipe (buried vs. overland). You may also find water temperatures to be warmer than normal during the day.
This notice will remain in effect until the water main replacement project is completed, which is expected to be approximately six (6) weeks.
What should affected customers do?
The level of treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, some customers with weakened immune systems and/or those wishing additional protection may wish to boil their water for at least one minute when preparing food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or brushing their teeth.
When this notice is rescinded, a notice will be hand delivered to affected customers, it will be posted on the RDNO website, sent out to email subscribers and the locally placed sign will be updated. If you wish to subscribe, please visit www.rdno.ca/subscribe.
If you have any questions about the water quality, please contact the RDNO Utilities Department at 250-550-3700.
