The Regional District of North Okanagan, in conjunction with Interior Health, advises customers on Galiano Road, supplied by Greater Vernon Water, that due to a planned BC Hydro outage, they are on a precautionary Boil Water Notice until sampling results confirm the drinking water is safe.
BC Hydro is planning a power outage on July 9, 2026 starting at 8:00AM and is estimated to have power restored by 12:00PM on the same day. This outage will impact one of Greater Vernon Water’s pump stations and will result in reduced water pressure or a loss of water to customers on Galiano Road. The RDNO is issuing a precautionary Boil Water Notice to the affected properties until testing confirms the continued safety of the water system.
What should affected customers do?
When the water service returns, properties in the area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and/or air. Please run a cold water tap until the water has cleared. An outside tap is preferred.
All customers should boil their water for at least one minute when preparing food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or brushing their teeth.
