Greater Vernon Water (GVW) is increasing the size of the spillway for the Headgates Dam at Harvey Lake to help protect our water supply infrastructure, the environment and downstream properties. The Duteau Creek Water Treatment Plant intake is in the Headgates Dam and the spillway work requires lowering the water in the reservoir during construction. This will temporarily reduce the volume of the water available from Duteau Creek.
The project started on September 15, 2022 and is expected to be complete on January 31, 2023, as long as no unforeseen circumstances arise. GVW is working hard to finish the work before it gets too cold.
